Ms. Brenchley is a middle school social studies teacher at International Connections Academy (iNaCA). She started her teaching career more than twenty-five years ago and joined iNaCA in 2005. Ms. Brenchley holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Bethany Bible College and a master’s degree in elementary education from Liberty University. She shares her story below.
“I have always loved teaching. I enjoy the challenge that learning presents: once you start learning, you find out how much you don’t know. Therefore, you keep searching and challenging yourself to learn more. This flows into my teaching practices by motivating me to stay up-to-date on the latest educational research practices.
The benefit of teaching at an online school versus a bricks-and-mortar school is that the online school allows me to individualize students and see their authentic work. I can spend time working in one-on-one, small-group, or full-class sessions to ensure that each student learns at his or her own pace. Students at iNaCA become independent learners who take control of their educational careers. They learn mastery of the content, which develops a deeper appreciation for learning.”
I love working with students around the world because it allows me to learn about different cultures and learning styles. It keeps me on my toes to ensure that I am meeting my student’s needs.
