Maureen Brett

Ms. Brett is a counselor at International Connections Academy (iNaCA). She started her teaching career in 2012 and joined iNaCA in 2014. Ms. Brett holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in school counseling from SUNY University at Buffalo. She also has a certificate of advanced study in school counseling. Ms. Brett shares her story below.

“I became a teacher because my father was a teacher and education was always heavily emphasized in my house when I was growing up. I love researching, organizing, and planning for the future. I combined those interests with my passion for education by becoming a school counselor, which turned out to be a perfect fit! The benefit of teaching at an online school versus a bricks-and-mortar school is that I have an opportunity to talk to and build relationships with students from all over the world each day.

An education at iNaCA helps prepare students for a bright and successful future. Our program requires self-discipline and motivation, two very important skills that are necessary in higher education and the workforce. I would tell a prospective parent that student success is best achieved through the collaborative efforts of teachers/counselors, parents, and the student.”

In Ms. Brett’s spare time, she enjoys taking different classes offered in the community, going to new restaurants and museum openings, and trying new and exciting activities. She also teaches dance classes a few nights a week in Niagara Falls, New York.

I love teaching at iNaCA because I get to work with students from all over the world. I’ve always wanted to travel and experience other countries and different cultures, and this is the next best thing!
