Ms. Agins is an elementary school teacher at International Connections Academy (iNaCA). She began teaching in 2011 and joined the iNaCA staff in 2015. Ms. Agins earned a bachelor's degree in English from Florida Atlantic University and is currently pursuing a master's degree in educational leadership.
When asked about why she wanted to become a teacher, Ms. Agins shared:
"I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of students. When I was in elementary school, I had the best teacher for the third, fourth, and fifth grade. She was the reason that I wanted to become a teacher. All of her lessons were engaging and differentiated to meet the learning needs of all of the students in her class. I remember sitting in that classroom and thinking, "When I am a teacher, I am going to do this in my classroom." So far, I have been able to apply some of her teaching styles to my lessons.
I love being able to learn about my students' amazing lives. We have some of the most interesting students! Our students include athletes, performers, expats, and all sorts of amazing people that you do not always see in the traditional brick-and-mortar classroom. I also love the flexibility that it provides families to ensure that education is a stable and important part of their lives.
iNaCA prepares students for a bright and successful future by giving them the tools they need to prepare for jobs that have not even been created yet. Our lessons are rigorous and relate to the real world. Students also have the opportunity to meet peers from other cultures and countries, which may not have been an option in a bricks-and-mortar classroom. The virtual school experience is the future and we are already there!
Our school community is caring, diverse, and exciting. We have the best teachers who do everything they can to help students succeed. Our students are extremely hard working, and some handle school and a career with such grace and enthusiasm."
In her spare time, Ms. Agins is an avid traveler who has visited 50 countries. She loves learning and experiencing different cultures and foods around the world. When Ms. Agins is not traveling or tasting different foods, she loves to do yoga and read.
I have never taught with a staff as dedicated to helping students succeed.
